DW Companies LLC attended Pine City High School on March 21st, 2023. They partnered with us and the Pine County Transition Interagency Committee (working with the SCRED grant) to educate students with IEP or 504 plans from Pine City High School, Hinckley-Finlayson High School, and East Central High School on the construction industry.
The company had a great presentation on the different jobs in construction, the requirements to work in construction, accommodations available, and so much more. They also encouraged the kids, no matter what industry they work in, to find an employer that treats them right and aligns with their morals. Their presentation was full of videos, pictures, and interaction with the students.
At the end, DW Companies LLC offered a Q&A session, and there were so many questions from the students! They were so excited and engaged in the entire presentation. Before the students left, they were all offered some DW merch to bring home. It was such a great presentation that really got the kids thinking about their futures and opening them up to the idea of the construction industry.
We have two more sessions coming in April and May at Hinckley-Finlayson High School and East Central High School on the automotive and healthcare industries. Presenters for those will be Monte Dybvig from Doctor Monte’s and Essentia Health.
